Can They Be Friends?

“My girlfriend of 3 years just recently drop the news that she wanted a break up, her reason behind it was that she needed space and time for herself. We haven’t seen each other for over a week and recently we got together and went out as a group with a couple of friends, I tried to dance with her and talk as friends should, but she keeps on rejecting me when we are in public, but when we talk on the phone she is very interested in me.

I’m very confused on how to handle this situation, I want to be her friend but everytime we get together she acts completely different than when we talk on the phone. What should I do to make things better for us as friend?” — Luis

Luis, if she doesn’t want to be your girlfriend then you need to stop trying to push the issue. If you’re confused as to why she’s nice to you on the phone but not when you’re together, ask her for an explanation. If she can’t give you one, then maybe you need to stop taking her phone calls and start moving on with your life without her.

Maybe if she sees that you’re not sitting at home waiting for her calls she’ll take more notice of you. If not, at least you’ll be making a positive move toward getting over her. At least that’s what I think. — Queenie
