I’ve had feelings for this girl for three years, i finally became friends with her about 11 months ago and now we’re really close, i’m in grade 9 right now and she says she’ll only start dating after high school. she goes to a different hig hschool than me but i see her almost everyday at her bus stop. if just stop being her friend, she’ll cry and hate me forever. should i just wait the four years?
So it’s either all in or nothing for you? She has to have the same ‘feelings’ as you do or you stop being her friend? Isn’t that somewhat selfish?
Get real! You’re in Grade 9. That makes you about 14 or 15 years old at the most. And you’re expecting this girl to give up her goal of dating after she finishes high school just because you’ve had feelings for her since you’ve been — what? — 11 or 12 years old?
I don’t mean to make light of your feelings but true love or whatever it is you think you feel for this girl won’t go away if you honor and respect her decision regarding putting off dating for a few more years.
Yes, I think you should just wait the four years until she’s ready. A lot can happen in that time. You may decide you like someone else better. She might decide she doesn’t want to wait so long. She may decide she’d prefer to date someone else.
You’ll never know what could be in the future if you decide to stop being friends now.
