I started dating this guy from work with whom I was very close friends for a couple of years before we dated. He decided he couldn’t commit but wanted to stay close friends stating that ‘if he had more to give, he would.’ He has now moved in with me but we only have occassional sex because it would require a commitment to have it regularly, according to him.
He hasn’t dated anyone else since he’s known me and he always says he loves me and always will. He’s also an alcoholic and has no-one else but me. I feel stupid sometimes but I also care alot about him and don’t want to lose him.
What should I do? He also has asked me to marry him on several occassions when he was drunk but took it back after he sobered up saying I deserve better than him. HELP!

When someone tells you that you deserve better than them, listen to them. They’re telling you the truth. You DO deserve better than him. He is sucking away your life. You can’t lose someone you don’t have.
Personally, and just my opinion of course, I think you need to move out and away from this guy and free up your life so that someone who will love you and respect you can come into it. — Queenie
