But the only problem is he has a girlfriend. He can’t leave her b/c she is bipolar. He is too afraid she will hurt herself. Should I wait for him or give up the fight? — Susie

Susie, if he can’t leave her, what would you be waiting for? And if you waited for him to get enough courage to leave her, would you really want the kind of boyfriend who would cheat on his girlfriend? After all, if he would cheat on her with you, what’s to stop him from cheating on you with someone else?
What amazes me about this guy is he won’t leave her because he says he’s afraid she’ll hurt herself but he doesn’t mind cheating on her which would cause her even more distress if she found out. He can’t even be honest enough with you to say he just doesn’t want to leave her for you, he has to make up a lame excuse instead.
If it were me, I wouldn’t wait. I’d find myself a guy who wasn’t already involved with someone else and make him so happy that he wouldn’t ever consider leaving. Somehow, though, I have a feeling you’ll keep hanging on hoping this dream guy lets her go. — Queenie
