Dear Queenie, My boyfriend (23) and I (21) have been dating for eight years now. He is really great; he’s affectionate, respects me, my family and my religious beliefs. He even seems to respect the fact that I don’t want to have sex until I’m married even though he doesn’t agree.
The problem is that, for the past 4 years, he keeps saying: “When we get married/engaged…” He won’t actually propose. I am beginning to wonder if he really does want to get married, or if he is just trying to get me to have sex with him.
Thanks in advance, Serenity

Serenity, why don’t you ask him: “Do you want to marry me or just have sex with me?” If he says he wants to marry you, ask him if he has just proposed and if so, when?
I’d say he’s showing extreme control if he isn’t pressuring you for sex considering the length of time the two of you have been dating. Religious beliefs aside, the sex urge is strong, natural and normal. — Queenie
